Jon & Glo

Gloria had a crush on Jon since she was in Junior High. Jon and Gloria did not meet until she was a freshmen and Jon was a sophmore in high school. Jon was introduced to Gloria by their mutual friends who work at Baskin Robbins. Jon and Gloria started hanging out as friends in high school. Slowly but eventually, Jon showing up to watch Gloria’s tennis games, and Gloria rooting for Jon’s track and field matches after school. On Valentine’s day in 1996, Jon left a red rose for Gloria in her Spanish class. As Gloria enters the class, the teacher said “there is a nice gentleman who left a rose for you.” Gloria knew it had to be Jon. Jon picked up Gloria after class during lunch and asks her to be his girlfriend. Of course Gloria said “yes” and they have been together since!

Gloria and Jon started taking mini trips to celebrate their anniversary. In 2008, they decided to go to Maui for a few days. Gloria did not expect that the ring was coming since she thought Jon was going to propose to her at Yosemite,  a trip later in the year. Gloria and Jon had a delicious seafood dinner by the water in downtown Lahaina overlooking the sunset, took a walk around the harbor, and drove back to the resort. While watching the waves from their balcony and reminiscing about their annual anniversary celebrations, Jon brought out the ring from his pocket and asks her to marry him. The first response was “What! Did you ask my parents?” Then, ocourse followed by “YES!” Jon had asked Gloria’s parents for thier permission before taking off to Maui. Many text messages from family followed the next day. Gloria and Jon enjoyed spending rest of their vacation exploring the island, driving the Road to Hana, going to the Old Lahaina Lauau, and soaking up the sun!
